Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain Opens Up on Career, Health Battles and Years in Band in New Spoken Word Tour
Former Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain is taking his life story on the road with a new spoken word tour across Europe and the UK, following the announcement of his upcoming autobiography Hello Boys And Girls!.
The veteran drummer, who spent more than four decades behind the kit for Iron Maiden, will launch The Spoken Word Tour: In Conversation With Nicko McBrain in Frankfurt on October 26, just days after the memoir's release on October 22 via Harper Non Fiction.
The tour will see McBrain appear at theatres and venues across Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Ireland and the UK, sharing stories from his remarkable career, from his East London upbringing and early days on the circuit to life inside one of heavy metal's most successful bands.
Promoted as part stand-up show and part audience Q&A, the evenings will feature tales from Iron Maiden's world tours, behind-the-scenes anecdotes, personal struggles and career-defining moments. Organisers say fans can expect an unfiltered look at a life that has included global fame, battles with cancer, recovery from a stroke, and a long-standing faith journey.
McBrain joined Iron Maiden in 1982 and remained a key member for 42 years, performing on 14 studio albums and helping the band sell more than 100 million records worldwide. Widely regarded as one of heavy metal's most influential drummers, he became known not only for his technical prowess but also for his larger-than-life personality.
Speaking about the tour, McBrain said: "It's been a real honour to write my very own autobiography and have the chance to walk down memory lane, revisiting all the experiences that have made me who I am and brought me to where I am today. And I'm thrilled and delighted to be taking those stories on the road and share them all with you."
He added: "We're going to have a lot of fun together, so come and join me for a great night out. I've got a LOT of stories I want to tell you all!"
UK dates include Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Bath, Manchester and Glasgow throughout late November and early December.
Tickets go on sale next week. Hello Boys And Girls! will be available in hardback, ebook and audiobook formats from October 22.
