Rising UK singer-songwriter Cat Burns has released her brand-new single “Lavender”, out today (Friday, September 12). The track offers another vibrant preview of her upcoming sophomore album, How to Be Human, which arrives Friday, September 31.

Following the success of recent singles “All This Love” and the sapphic anthem “GIRLS!,” “Lavender” continues Burns’ streak of joyful, infectious pop. Across its 16 tracks, the new album promises to take listeners deep into her inner world, exploring themes of vulnerability, growth, and love with unflinching honesty.

Speaking about the record, Burns shared:

“How to Be Human is about the last year of my life. I experienced the death of a loved one and my first relationship heartbreak at the same time and genuinely had no idea how I would get through the situation. Making this album was my introspective and neurodivergent way of navigating heartbreak and the loss of my Grandad, who I was extremely close to — it’s my comfort album.

While making it, I realised how many people it could help. I know there are so many going through similar struggles. I hope it provides them some comfort too and shows how you can pick yourself back up.”

To celebrate the release, Cat Burns will take How to Be Human on the road this November for a UK headline tour, where she’ll perform the new material alongside fan favourites.

With “Lavender,” Cat Burns continues to prove herself as one of the UK’s most compelling young voices—offering music that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
