Foo Fighters Bring Back Their Classic Fire with “Asking for a Friend,” Announce 2026 Stadium Tour

Foo Fighters are turning up the volume once again. The legendary rock outfit has released a brand-new single, “Asking for a Friend,” a powerful, emotionally charged track that’s already sending longtime fans into a frenzy.

The song opens with a steady, melodic guitar part — simple but haunting — before Dave Grohl’s vocals cut through, raw and direct. From there, the energy builds leading to crashing drums, thick guitars, and the kind of cathartic choruses that define the band’s signature sound.

Fans online are already hailing it as a return to form. One listener wrote, “Now this sounds like that Foo Fighters spirit is awakened again… and you’re goddamn right we’re here for it!” Another commented, “I can smell this being the heaviest album since Wasting Light ❤.”

Others pointed out the track’s classic feel, noting “an in-between mix of In Your Honor and Wasting Light vibes,” and celebrating guitarist Chris Shiflett’s “mini guitar solo.”

“Asking for a Friend” takes a darker, more melodic approach than recent single “Today’s Song,” with Grohl howling the refrain, “What is real? I’m asking for a friend…” until the track explodes into a climactic finish. It’s Foo Fighters at their most introspective and intense — both sonically and emotionally.

Alongside the single, the band has unveiled plans for their 2026 Stadium Tour, their first since the massive Everything or Nothing at All run. The trek kicks off August 4 in Toronto and will hit 12 North American cities before wrapping September 26 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.

Grohl reflected on the band’s renewed spirit in a personal note to fans, writing, “Since our return to the stage in San Luis Obispo, we’ve been reminded of why we love and are forever devoted to doing this Foo Fighters thing… The sun is finally rising over the horizon.”

Queens of the Stone Age will join as direct support on most dates, marking a reunion between Grohl and longtime friend Josh Homme, whose bond dates back to their early 1990s Kyuss days.

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 31 at 10 a.m. local time via foofighters.com, with presales beginning earlier in the week.

With “Asking for a Friend,” Foo Fighters have reminded fans what they do best: blending melody, muscle, and meaning — proving once again that rock’s heart is still beating loud.
