“I didn’t know it was being recorded” says BP Fallon about his new album ‘Live In Texas’. “That’s maybe why it has such a great vibe”. It goes like this ~ Jack White comes up to BP Fallon in a club in New York and says “Would you like to come down to Nashville and make a record?” Of course BP says yes, having never made a record in his life. Well, you would, wouldn’t you? Oh, BP had done the odd bit of music-making ~ playing tom toms with Led Zeppelin live during ‘Whole Lotta Love’ a few times, congas now and again with Marc Bolan & T.Rex, harmonica and vocals on the classic album ‘So Alone’ by New York Dolls subterranean star Johnny Thunders, among the backing singers on U2’s ‘Pride (In The Name Of Love)’ record, miming bass guitar with John Lennon on TV for Lennon’s ‘Instant Karma’ single. Wild, really.

Jennifer Davies has revealed the stunningly spectacular video for ‘Disconnected’. The video premiered at Wonderland who said, “We’ve been waiting for Jennifer Davies for a long time. Jennifer’s powerful voice never fails to take centre stage, but her talent is truly showcased when the backing falls away and she’s left to purr alone. It’s unashamed, unabashed pop. There’s surely a place for Jennifer in the hearts of fans of Icona Pop and Charli XCX’s ‘I Love It’, as a track with the same potential to be an overwhelmingly huge hit.”

With a band name like Flying Vaginas, it’s no surprise that the band members carry such aliases as Well Worn Banana (guitars, vocals), Disappointed Kiwi (bass, vocals) and Angry Pineapple (drums, synths). But this Italian trio’s debut album, And That’s Why We Can’t Have Nice Things (2014), demonstrates the seriousness of their dedication to the music they create and pulls out all the stops you’d imagine a true shoegaze band would. It leaves the listener with a sound similar to Yo La Tengo, My Bloody Valentine, Yuck and The Babies, to name a few.

A London-based electro-rock project dreamed up by Beatrice Bonnano, Dronningen, which means “The Queen” in Norwegian, base their music on three guiding principles that can be heard and felt in the music and lyrics: 1) Getting rid of general negativity; 2) Dance as a purifying ritual; 3) Being the sovereign of your own world.
