Chloe Trujillo’s “Lies” Blends Doom, Distortion, and Emotional Atmospherics

Chloe Trujillo has released her second single “Lies,” a track that highlights both the raw intensity and spiritual depth that define her upcoming EP “Rebirth,” expected in early 2026. The Paris born and Los Angeles based artist dropped the song on December 11 while coming off an Australian run with her BLVD of Eyes project and recent appearances at Miami’s Art Basel and New York Fashion Week.

“Lies” opens with a lone heavy guitar riff that immediately sets a foreboding tone. A prolonged guttural roar follows, before the mood shifts into surprisingly pleasant female vocalization. The soft oohs and aahs form an atmospheric contrast to the ferocity that comes before. The track then leans into a grungy and memorable hook filled with distortion and screamo energy. The result is a rock and alternative metal piece with a doomy vibe that echoes the uncertainty of the period in which it was written during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Trujillo is known for her strong and expressive vocal style. Fans often describe her delivery as soulful and operatic, and that emotional power is present throughout “Lies.” The lyrics examine self reflection and the stories people tell themselves. Trujillo uses the song to explore internal falsehoods as well as external ones. She frames the narrative as a confrontation with the shadow self and a call to take responsibility instead of becoming a victim of outside forces.

According to Trujillo, the song’s meaning operates on different layers. The more obvious interpretation touches on external lies. The deeper one speaks to the challenge of letting go of old identities and stepping beyond the ego’s comfort zone. She describes the process as a form of spiritual transcendence that requires facing fear and embracing growth.

“Lies” continues her pattern of weaving visual art into her music. Trujillo painted the cover art for the EP, and the release is part of a larger creative journey that ties together her spiritual themes, her paintings, and her songwriting. The track maintains an intense and genuine tone that aims to connect with listeners on a personal level, especially those wrestling with adversity or self imposed barriers.

The new single arrives after “As the Sky is Falling Down,” the first track from “Rebirth.” That song features ominous guitar work beneath Trujillo’s moving and haunting vocal performance. Its spoken word bridge adds a dramatic moment that hints at the expressive range she brings to the entire EP.

“Rebirth” itself represents transition and renewal. Trujillo has been crafting the project throughout 2024 and 2025 while continuing her ongoing writing practice. She selected four songs from a large collection of unfinished material and worked with producer Jake Carmona to shape them in the studio. She already has several more pieces in mind for the next release.

Some listeners may not immediately connect Chloe Trujillo with her well known last name, but she is indeed married to Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo. Her own artistic identity, however, stands entirely on its own. She has built a reputation as a multi dimensional creative force with work that spans music, painting, fashion, and design.

With “Lies,” she delivers one of her most commanding statements yet, a track that blends heavy musicianship with spiritual reflection and melodic contrasts. It sets the stage for “Rebirth,” an EP that captures transformation in real time.
