From Atomic Kitten to Solo Vision: Natasha Hamilton Drops Electro-Pop Single “Fantasy”

Singer and songwriter Natasha Hamilton, widely known as a member of Atomic Kitten, has released her new solo single “Fantasy,” marking another step toward her upcoming debut EP Extraction, due in June.

The track arrives as the follow up to “Numb” and continues Hamilton’s move into a more independent and self defined phase of her career. Released through her own imprint Morpho Records, the single reflects a shift from global pop group success to artist led creative control.

Clocking in at just under three minutes, “Fantasy” is a concise and radio friendly pop track built around atmospheric electropop textures. Layered synths and a steady pulse give the song a dramatic yet cool energy, while its fiery dancefloor undercurrent suggests it could easily warm up late night playlists and club sets alike.

Lyrically, the song explores a moment of tension and realignment. Hamilton describes the track as focusing on connection and personal strength during uncertain times.

“At its heart, Fantasy is about connection, not just to someone else, but to yourself,” she explained. “ ‘To get back to you’ is about realignment. It’s about choosing strength when things feel uncertain. This isn’t about returning to who I was. It’s about stepping fully into who I am now.”

Early reactions online suggest listeners are intrigued by the unexpected direction. On YouTube, one fan wrote, “We should’ve sent this to UK Eurovision,” while another joked, “Atomic Kitten solo bangers was not on my bingo card this year.”

Hamilton’s new solo chapter comes after more than two decades in the music industry. As part of Atomic Kitten, she helped deliver three UK number one singles and contributed to more than 10 million records sold worldwide. With Extraction, she now takes on the dual role of artist and executive, shaping her music independently while building a long term creative vision.

Away from the studio, Hamilton will also appear as a keynote speaker alongside Guy Chambers at the Liverpool Careers Festival on March 21 at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, part of a programme of talks, panels and workshops designed to help young creatives explore careers in the music industry.

If “Fantasy” is any indication, Hamilton’s next phase is not about revisiting early 2000s pop nostalgia. Instead, it signals a confident reinvention, one built on independence, experience, and a willingness to push her sound toward sleek modern pop territory.

This isn’t about returning to who I was. It’s about stepping fully into who I am now.
