Stella Lefty is taking a chance on love with “Lean In, Kiss Me,” the latest single from the rising singer-songwriter’s forthcoming debut album, Long Way Home, out August 21.

Built around breezy acoustic guitar, “Lean In, Kiss Me” has a bright, conversational pop feel, with traditional country touches woven through the arrangement. Banjo, mandolin and pedal steel add warmth and texture, while light percussion gives the track its bubbly, carefree rhythm. The result is a song that feels playful on the surface while leaving room for the emotional uncertainty at its centre.

At its heart, the song captures the familiar friends-to-lovers dilemma. There is excitement in taking the leap, but also the fear that saying what you really feel could change the relationship forever. Lefty turns that tension into something conversational and upbeat, pairing romantic vulnerability with an easygoing acoustic arrangement.

The release comes at a particularly significant moment for the Chicago-born, Los Angeles-based artist. Lefty’s breakout single “Boston” has become one of the year’s biggest crossover successes, spending 17 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and climbing into the chart’s top five. The track has now surpassed 330 million streams while continuing to gain traction across both country and pop radio. Lefty also brought “Boston” to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live! as its momentum continued to build.

“Lean In, Kiss Me” follows the momentum of Lefty’s breakout year, which has seen her move from viral discovery to one of the more closely watched new voices in pop. Her earlier single “Thinking ’bout You” helped establish her online following, while “Boston” pushed her music into the mainstream and earned her a growing audience across genres.

That momentum carried into last week’s Lollapalooza, where Lefty made her festival debut in her hometown of Chicago. Growing up attending the festival herself, the performance marked a full-circle moment for the singer-songwriter. In front of a crowd of more than 12,000 people, she used the set to officially announce Long Way Home. She also welcomed boyfriend and country artist Vincent Mason to the stage for a performance of their collaboration “Something To Lose,” which continues to chart on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.

Now, with Long Way Home arriving August 21, Lefty is moving into the next chapter of her rise. The album will be followed by a run of festival appearances in the US and Australia before Lefty launches her headline tour in November, with dates across North America and Australia, including stops in Los Angeles, Nashville, Toronto, New York, Boston and Chicago.

With “Lean In, Kiss Me,” Lefty offers another glimpse into the world of Long Way Home, balancing pop sensibility with acoustic warmth and country influences while exploring the messy, relatable emotions that come with figuring out what happens when friendship starts to feel like something more.
