St. Pancras International welcomed an unexpected burst of rock and seasonal cheer today when British rock legends The Darkness delivered a surprise live performance in the station’s main Arcade. (Watch the video below). The event arrives during a landmark week for the band as they celebrate the 20th anniversary of their second album One Way Ticket To Hell… And Back and announce their largest headline tour in twenty years, set for December 2026.

The performance paid homage to the anniversary of the album, which famously features a roaring steam train on its cover, while also shining a spotlight on the band’s return to UK arenas next year. Pre-sale for the December 2026 tour opens at 10am on Wednesday 26 November 2025, with general sale beginning at 10am on Friday 28 November 2025.

Justin and Dan Hawkins treated lunchtime travellers to a stripped back selection of favourites. The set included the band’s festive hit Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells End), a rendition of Cliff Richard’s Mistletoe and Wine and fan favourites such as I Believe In A Thing Called Love, Givin’ Up and Friday Night. Justin Hawkins took to the station piano while Dan accompanied on acoustic guitar, drawing a large crowd of surprised and delighted commuters.

Justin Hawkins shared his excitement about performing at St. Pancras, saying, “As Santa prepares to fly his reindeer fuelled sleigh of Slays across the night sky, thence to squeeze his tubby frame down the exhaust flues of the nation’s central heating boilers, so we, The Darkness, dust off our Christmas songs in readiness for a glut of celebration! And what better place to celebrate than Britain’s favourite railway station?! As the commuters hurry by, mince pies crushed in their frozen palms, we are filled with joy to tickle the ivories of Christmas Warmth, and strum upon the Lute of Festive Light.”

The band’s appearance joins a long line of high profile performances at St. Pancras International. The station has hosted artists including Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Jeff Goldblum, Rod Stewart and Jools Holland, while stars such as Elton John and John Legend have also graced its famous pianos. Over time the Arcade has become a lively cultural space that showcases both international names and local talent.

Peter Martin Jones, Head of Marketing at London St. Pancras Highspeed, said the surprise show perfectly captured the station’s musical atmosphere and added that it was a pleasure to welcome The Darkness during such an important moment in their calendar.
