Irish pop sensation CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, has once again captured the public’s imagination with her latest music video for the single “Jamie Oliver Petrol Station”, featuring a surprise cameo from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver. Fans on YouTube were quick to react, with one commenting, “Jamie Oliver gonna appear in his own diss track, CMAT is too funny for this world,” while another joked in reference to the songs lyrics, “I am not sure this is a good idea, the man’s got kids and they wouldn’t like this.”

Released today, the video confirms that despite the provocative title, the track is not a diss. Oliver puts down his apron to join CMAT on the drums in a playful collaboration, adding a fun and unexpected twist to the song.

For those unfamiliar, CMAT is one of Ireland’s most talked-about young pop stars. Her third album, Euro-Country, released in August 2025, topped the charts in Ireland and reached number two in the UK. The album earned a shortlist nomination for the Mercury Prize and a BRIT Award nomination for Best International Artist alongside Taylor Swift. CMAT is known for blending pop and country influences with humour and emotional storytelling, creating songs that are catchy but often full of social commentary.

The single “Jamie Oliver Petrol Station” was inspired by CMAT’s playful frustration at seeing Oliver’s face on deli products at petrol stations. Despite the title, the song is a humorous and self-aware reflection on holding onto petty annoyance, with the chorus noting, “OK, don’t be a bitch. The man’s got kids, and they wouldn’t like this.”

Fans were quick to speculate that “Jamie Oliver Petrol Station” might be a diss track because of its cheeky title and CMAT’s reputation for sharp, tongue-in-cheek humour. The song name alone suggested some playful criticism of the celebrity chef, and her lyrics hint at mock frustration over seeing Oliver’s face on pre-packaged deli products at petrol stations. Combined with CMAT’s track record of clever, provocative songwriting, many listeners assumed the video would be a humorous roast rather than a lighthearted collaboration, making Oliver’s cameo all the more surprising.

In the new music video, Oliver joins CMAT on drums and takes part in choreographed dance routines. The chef reportedly embraced the humour after his daughters and their friends became fans, telling The Guardian he initially wondered, “What have I done wrong?” before leaning into the fun.

CMAT is taking her career to North America this year, performing at major festivals such as Coachella and Newport Folk Festival, opening for Florence + The Machine on the Everybody Scream tour, and headlining shows in iconic venues including San Francisco’s Castro Theatre on April 12 and Brooklyn Steel on May 15.

With her blend of humor, emotional honesty, and pop-country flair, CMAT has cemented herself as a once-in-a-generation artist. The Jamie Oliver cameo is the latest proof that she is unafraid to blend music, comedy, and celebrity culture into unforgettable pop moments.
