PinkPantheress has released the long-awaited music video for fan favourite track “Girl Like Me,” marking one year since the release of her breakout mixtape Fancy That.

Directed by Lauzza, the video opens in the setting of a fictional talk show fronted by British television icon Davina McCall before spiralling into a surreal, rhythm-driven world that mirrors the chaotic energy of the track itself. Since its release, the video has quickly gained traction online and landed on YouTube’s music trending chart.

Originally released as part of Fancy That in 2025, “Girl Like Me” became an instant fan favourite thanks to its blend of nostalgic club influences and PinkPantheress’ signature vocal style. Built around a sample of Basement Jaxx’s 2001 classic “Romeo,” the song combines fast-paced UK garage and drum-and-bass inspired production with soft, almost whispered vocals.

Listeners have praised the track for capturing the feel of early 2000s dance music while still sounding unmistakably modern. One fan described it as featuring “fast, pulsating beats reminiscent of early 2000s club music” paired with lyrics exploring “modern romantic confusion and emotional vulnerability.”

At just over two minutes long, “Girl Like Me” has become one of the defining songs from the Fancy That era, showcasing PinkPantheress’ ability to turn short, intimate tracks into streaming hits. The mixtape itself has now surpassed one billion Spotify streams, becoming her third project to reach the milestone.

The release of the music video follows a major run of live performances for the artist, including her debut appearances at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Her sets featured surprise appearances from artists including Thundercat, Janelle Monáe and Zara Larsson, with Rolling Stone describing the performances as proof that she is “only just getting started.”

PinkPantheress has also continued expanding the Fancy That universe with Fancy Some More?, a remix collection featuring collaborations with artists including Kylie Minogue, Sugababes, Bladee and Kaytranada.

Among the project’s biggest successes is “Stateside” featuring Zara Larsson, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Global 200 chart, making PinkPantheress the first English woman since Adele to achieve the feat.

The singer is currently continuing her North American run of An Evening With PinkPantheress tour dates, with upcoming shows in Philadelphia, Boston and Montreal.
