Alanis Morissette is bringing her deeply personal stage production Butterfly with a Machete to Los Angeles this fall, expanding on the success of the sold-out residency that debuted in Las Vegas last year.

The seven-time Grammy Award winner announced a limited four-night run of the multimedia show at YouTube Theater on Nov. 5, 6, 10 and 11. The engagement marks a continuation of the production's first run at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where all eight performances sold out.

Far from a traditional concert, Butterfly with a Machete is described as a confessional musical stage play that blends Morissette's catalog with storytelling, theatrical elements and reflections on fame, trauma and healing. Produced, performed and co-written by Morissette, the nearly three-hour production traces her journey from Ottawa to international stardom, exploring both the triumphs and challenges that accompanied her rise.

The show combines live music with multimedia visuals, personal anecdotes, interpretive dance and psychological insights, creating what Morissette calls an examination of the universal human experience. Through stories drawn from her own life, she addresses subjects ranging from personal hardship to moments of joy, with an emphasis on vulnerability and connection.

Reviewing the Las Vegas debut, Las Vegas Weekly praised the singer's openness, writing that Morissette "embraced a level of vulnerability rarely seen at this stage of stardom" while using humor, dance and theatrical storytelling to chronicle her life.

The Los Angeles dates also represent a milestone for YouTube Theater, which is billing the engagement as its first-ever residency. The 6,000-seat venue, located at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, has emerged as one of the country's leading mid-sized performance spaces since opening in 2021.

Morissette remains one of the most influential singer-songwriters of her generation. Since the release of 1995's Jagged Little Pill, she has earned seven Grammy Awards, launched a successful podcast, inspired a Tony-nominated Broadway musical and continued to tour globally. In 2025, she debuted Butterfly with a Machete in Las Vegas, and earlier this year she was honored by the Songwriters Hall of Fame alongside Taylor Swift.

Presales for the Los Angeles residency begin June 15, with general ticket sales opening June 17 through Alanis Morissette's official website.
