Three-time GRAMMY® Award winner Fantastic Negrito returns with a powerful new live single, “How Long?”, a raw reflection on violence, inequality, and accountability in modern life.

The track arrives ahead of his upcoming live album Alive!, due July 17 via Storefront Records, and captures the intensity of his reputation as a performer who blends blues, funk, rock, and soul into a high-energy, emotionally charged sound.

Written in response to recurring police violence, systemic inequality, and wider social unrest, “How Long?” frames its central question as both frustration and reflection. The song does not only point outward at societal breakdown but also turns inward, asking what responsibility individuals carry in breaking these cycles.

In a statement, Negrito describes the song as emerging from frustration and heartbreak over repeated violence, while also acknowledging his own role in shaping change. That balance of anger and self-examination runs through much of his work, but is especially pronounced here.

The single also previews the atmosphere of Alive!, a record designed to capture the spontaneity and communal energy of his live shows. Known for turning concerts into immersive, participatory experiences, Negrito has built a global following through performances that blur the line between stage and audience.

“How Long?” arrives as he continues an international touring run across the US and Europe, including festival appearances and a San Francisco performance with the San Francisco Symphony.

I wrote ‘How Long?’ out of frustration and heartbreak over the cycles we keep repeating as
human beings,” says Fantastic Negrito. “Watching another police shooting, seeing violence in
Oakland, hearing about the murder rates in Chicago over and over again, I kept asking myself
the same question: how long are we going to keep doing this to each other? At the same time, I
also started wondering about my own accountability and what my part was in helping point the
world in a different direction.
