Iron Maiden reveals Knebworth stage times as fans prepare for heatwave during historic 50th anniversary EDDFEST weekend
Iron Maiden has revealed the full stage times for this weekend's eagerly anticipated EDDFEST at Knebworth, while urging fans to prepare for hot weather as the band's landmark 50th anniversary celebrations get under way.
Thousands of fans are expected to descend on the historic Hertfordshire venue across Friday and Saturday for what has been billed as a once in a lifetime celebration of all things Iron Maiden, culminating in the band's headline performance on Saturday night.
The show has already taken on added significance after it was confirmed last week that the performance will be filmed for inclusion in a forthcoming cinematic concert movie due for release next year.
The weekend begins on Friday, when gates open at midday for weekend camping and campervan ticket holders. Entertainment on the Maidenville stage starts at 3pm with Tony Moore's Awake, followed by Gypsy's Kiss at 4.10pm, Airforce at 5.20pm, Maiden United at 6.30pm, Stray at 7.40pm, Blaze Bayley at 8.50pm and Hair Metal Glamageddon closing the night from 10.20pm.
Saturday's main arena opens at 1pm, with The Almighty taking to the stage at 3.05pm, followed by Airbourne at 4.20pm, The Hu at 5.35pm and The Darkness at 6.50pm. Iron Maiden will begin their headline set at 8.15pm.
Alongside the live music, fans will be able to explore the Infinite Dreams Museum Experience, Eddie's Emporium, Eddie's Dive Bar, the Unfair Funfair and a host of other attractions spread across the festival site.
With a heatwave forecast across much of the UK this weekend, organisers are encouraging fans to bring sun cream, hats and reusable water bottles to stay safe in the high temperatures. Sealed two litre bottles of water will also be permitted into the arena, with free refill points available throughout the site.
Fans are also being reminded to bring valid photo ID and ensure their mobile phones are fully charged so tickets can be scanned on arrival. Multiple security checks will be in operation, and organisers are advising people to travel light, as large bags and backpacks will not be permitted inside the main arena.
Ticket holders are being encouraged to use public transport where possible, with shuttle buses operating between Stevenage station and the venue throughout the weekend. Those travelling by car must have pre-booked parking, while car sharing is also being encouraged to ease congestion.
Organisers have also confirmed that England's Women's World Cup quarter-final against Norway will not be shown on site following Iron Maiden's performance, as the event must comply with a strict 10.30pm curfew agreed with police and licensing authorities.
The EDDFEST arena and Maidenville will both close at 11pm on Saturday after what promises to be one of the biggest celebrations in Iron Maiden's 50-year history.
