Olivia Rodrigo is giving fans a closer look at what went into making one of the biggest pop albums of 2026.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter is the focus of a new episode of Amazon Music's Songline, a docu-performance series that gives artists a chance to revisit the stories and creative decisions behind their music.

Filmed at Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York City, the episode sees Rodrigo perform songs from her third studio album, you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love, while reflecting on how the tracks came together.

The first performance released from the episode is a stripped-back reimagining of "stupid song," now available to watch on YouTube and through the Amazon Music app.

Rather than simply performing the songs, Rodrigo uses the episode to talk about the process behind them, from the first spark of an idea to the finished recording and eventually bringing the music to a live audience.

"Songline was a chance to strip everything back and reflect on the making of you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love," Rodrigo said. "Every song came together differently and has its own story."

She described the album-making process as "cathartic and joyful and raw," adding that the Songline project gave her a chance to look back at how the songs developed.

The timing comes as Rodrigo is riding the biggest commercial success of her career so far. you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love sold 485,000 units in its first week, making it the biggest solo debut of 2026. The album also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and topped charts in 17 countries.

Rodrigo is currently taking the album on the road with her sold-out Unraveled Tour, which has sold more than 1 million tickets globally.

The Songline episode features six performances, including "the cure," "stupid song," "purple," "honeybee," "less" and "maggots for brains."

The full Songline album is set to arrive on October 9, with a Songline docu-performance film scheduled for release later this fall.

For Rodrigo, the project offers a different perspective on an album fans have already heard millions of times. Instead of focusing solely on the finished product, Songline puts the songwriting process itself in the spotlight, giving fans a glimpse at the ideas, emotions and decisions that helped shape the record.
