Roger Sanchez Refracts His Spectrum Era With New Alternate Album
Roger Sanchez is opening a new chapter in his latest album era with Spectrum Refracted, an expanded and alternate vision of his acclaimed Spectrum album, due for release on 16 October 2026.
The new collection arrives just months after Sanchez released Spectrum, his first new studio album in 20 years. The ambitious record marked a major return for the dance music icon, bringing together an eclectic cast of collaborators and a wide-ranging sound that moved between club-focused energy and more personal songwriting.
Beatportal praised the album for moving "effortlessly between peak-time club energy and deeply personal songwriting", describing its concept as something that had long existed within Sanchez's creative imagination.
Now, Spectrum Refracted offers another way into that world.
The six-track release begins with Feel Free, a brand new collaboration with producer, DJ and Run Bklyn Trax Company and Liberate Recordings owner EMan. The track immediately builds on the energy of Spectrum, combining maximal funk, euphoric house beats and bursts of saxophone into a track designed for the dancefloor.
The rest of the release reimagines material from Spectrum through a series of new remixes, many of which Sanchez has already been testing out in clubs throughout the summer.
His own Flower Power remixes of How Do We Say Goodbye, featuring Karen Harding, and I Don't Wanna Know, featuring Melanie C, have become crowd favourites during his summer residency at Pacha Ibiza.
Elsewhere, dance music veteran David Morales brings the Latin influence of Canto Al Amor further to the forefront with his Wepaaa Remix, while Dani Masi gives Temptation a renewed big room edge while retaining the energy of the original.
The collection also features the winning entry from a global remix competition staged in association with Beatport.
Serdar Guven and Ahmed Ahmedov were selected from hundreds of entries for their reworking of I Don't Wanna Know, with Sanchez and Spice Girls legend Melanie C personally choosing the winning version.
Their remix gives the track a progressive house treatment, creating a new backdrop for Melanie C's distinctive vocal performance while retaining the impact of the original.
For Sanchez, the new collection represents more than simply a set of remixes. It is an alternative way of experiencing the songs that make up Spectrum.
"These remixes and my unreleased track with Eman have been secret weapons all summer long, at my Pacha Flower Power residency in Ibiza and all around Europe," Sanchez says. "I wanted to share them with everyone in the way I see and hear them. Like light refracting from a prism, changing the way you see it, these versions represent an alternative way to experience songs from my album Spectrum."
The release follows a major summer for Sanchez, who has continued to bring his signature sound to audiences across Europe while maintaining his residency at Pacha Ibiza.
He will close out his 2026 Flower Power residency at the club on 10 October as part of the first night of Pacha's Grand Closing Weekend. Sanchez will be joined by special guests MK and LAEET.
Spectrum Refracted will be released on 16 October 2026 and is available to pre-save now.
