The EGOT-winning music icon joins forces with Irish singer-songwriter CMAT for an exclusive Amazon Music Original, giving his beloved festive hit a fresh new twist.

Elton John and CMAT have joined forces to bring a fresh sound to one of Christmas' most enduring songs, unveiling a reimagined version of 'Step Into Christmas' exclusively on Amazon Music.

Released on November 5, the new collaboration sees the legendary singer-songwriter revisit his much-loved festive classic alongside the award-winning Irish artist, combining the original's signature rock 'n' roll energy with CMAT's vibrant vocals and fresh musical arrangements.

Originally written by Elton as a thank-you gift to his fans, 'Step Into Christmas' has become a staple of the festive season since its release in 1973. More than five decades later, the song continues to soundtrack Christmas for generations, with the new version aiming to introduce its joyful spirit to an entirely new audience.

Elton praised CMAT's involvement, revealing that he had been a fan of the singer since first discovering her music and videos. Describing the pair as kindred spirits, he highlighted their shared appreciation for rock 'n' roll, country and Americana, adding that he was thrilled with the collaboration.

For CMAT, working alongside one of music's most influential figures was a particularly meaningful experience. Recalling how Elton's music formed part of her childhood, she described the opportunity as the greatest joy of her life, while sharing her excitement about bringing the festive favourite to listeners around the world.

The collaboration brings together two distinctive musical voices. Elton, an EGOT-winning artist who has sold more than 350 million records worldwide, remains one of the most successful performers and songwriters of all time. CMAT, meanwhile, has emerged as one of Ireland's most exciting contemporary artists, earning BRIT Award and Ivor Novello recognition for her distinctive blend of indie-pop, country influences and sharp songwriting.

The release also adds to Amazon Music's expanding collection of exclusive holiday recordings, which has previously featured artists including Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, John Legend, Sam Ryder and Tom Grennan.

Among the platform's biggest festive successes was Kylie Minogue's 'XMAS', which claimed the UK Official Christmas No. 1 last year, while Tom Grennan's 'It Can't Be Christmas' reached No. 2 in the UK charts.

With a fresh interpretation of a timeless festive favourite, Elton John and CMAT's collaboration adds another major release to this year's Christmas music offering, celebrating the enduring appeal of a song that has remained a holiday staple for more than 50 years.
