Kay HeART Returns With New Music Following Mental Health Battle and Creative Rebirth
- by Adam Bailey • Featured • 25 February 2026

Independent artist and multidisciplinary creative Kay HeART has returned with new music following a prolonged period of personal struggle, mental health challenges, and rebuilding within the music industry.
Active in the creative industries since 2003, Kay HeART has built a career spanning music, publishing, and visual storytelling. Her work was recognised in 2023 when she received the Best Original Song Award at the Heart of Wales Film Festival. Despite ongoing creative output, she has also faced years of rejection, online harassment, and smear campaigns, experiences she says intensified as her music and theatrical performances gained wider attention.
During this time, Kay continued releasing music and securing airplay on unsigned and independent radio stations. She also became a featured artist in RapFame’s Back To Reality contest, surpassing one million views. While the milestone brought visibility, it was followed by targeted online hostility. Her tracks remain available on the platform and continue to receive streams.
Alongside her own career, Kay invested heavily in community building within the independent music scene. She launched an online radio station and produced physical music magazines distributed internationally, featuring artist interviews and reviews. Through this work, she connected with established figures such as DJ Z-Trip and participated in a live review contest involving music by Krizz Kaliko, where her performance received positive feedback alongside Wyshmaster.
In November 2024, the cumulative impact of professional pressure and personal experiences led to a severe mental breakdown. Kay withdrew from daily life, experiencing depression, sleep disruption, and disorientation. She ultimately left home unexpectedly, walking for several hours without a destination. During this episode, she encountered a support worker who helped her access counselling services, a moment she credits with stabilising her condition.
Following professional support, Kay returned to creative work as a form of recovery. She has since published two comic book projects, My Kinder Planet and the mini series Cuppa Ch@ts, and developed theatrical musical performances built around her original character Sparkz HeART Empress, alongside supporting characters Angel-Peace and Waste Battler Gran. These projects draw directly from her real life experiences and recovery process.
She is also a published poet, with work appearing in multiple anthologies distributed through Amazon and other platforms. Her current focus includes the HeART in HEALth project, an initiative that uses music and art to promote mental health awareness and creative empowerment.
Kay HeART is now preparing the release of her latest music video, Rap Library, which will arrive on Spotify and digital platforms. The release marks a new chapter in her career, one centred on independence, creative control, and advocacy through art.
