Adele’s 21 Sells Over 10 Million Copies in the US
- in Latest

Adele’s album 21 has sold over 10 million copies in the States, marking yet another landmark for her record breaking second album.
The album is ironically the 21st album to reach 10 million copies since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking data in 1991.
As well as achieving such a massive landmark, Billboard have also revealed that the album reached that number in its 92nd week which makes it one of only eight albums to do so within two years of release.
Adele still has a long way to go before she comes close to beating the highest ever selling album in the US. Metallica currently hold the title with their self titled album which was released back in 1991 and to date has sold 15.8 million copies in the US.
It may not take long for her to catch up though as she sold 28,000 copies in the last week. Not bad considering in has been out since January 2011.
21 has done equally as well here in the UK as well. It has recently just slipped to number 42 in the official album charts though it’s the first time it has done so since its release nearly two years ago.
