Billy Idol is charging full throttle into 2025 with the release of "77", a new single featuring Avril Lavigne that blends bratty punk nostalgia with a modern punch. It's the first taste of Dream Into It, Idol’s first full-length studio album in over a decade, set to drop April 25 via Dark Horse Records.

The single arrives with a vividly stylized animated video directed by Spencer Ramsey, channeling the riotous energy of its title—a nod to the anarchic birth year of UK punk. Lavigne's snarling harmonies cut through Idol’s gritty vocals like safety pins through leather, evoking a generational rebellion that feels right at home in 2025.

Watch the “77” Music Video below.

Idol isn’t just revisiting the past—he’s reshaping it. Dream Into It reunites him with longtime guitarist and co-writer Steve Stevens and features a roster of badass women rockers, including Joan Jett, Alison Mosshart of The Kills, and of course, Lavigne. The album is produced by genre-hopping hitmaker Tommy English (Kacey Musgraves, blink-182), injecting a slick, yet gritty edge into Idol’s unmistakable sound.

The full tracklist includes:

  • Dream Into It

  • 77 (featuring Avril Lavigne)

  • Too Much Fun

  • John Wayne (featuring Alison Mosshart)

  • Wildside (featuring Joan Jett)

  • People I Love

  • Gimme The Weight

  • I’m Your Hero

  • Still Dancing

"Still Dancing", another standout single, arrived earlier this year with a moody, stylized video directed by Steven Sebring. It's a brooding glam-rock meditation on resilience, and a reminder that Idol’s voice still carries that same sneering electricity that defined an era.

A Hall of Fame Nod and a Hard-Hitting Doc

As if a new album weren’t enough, Idol and Stevens are nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025, solidifying the punk icon’s enduring legacy. Also on deck: Billy Idol Should Be Dead, a new documentary directed by Jonas Åkerlund (Lords of Chaos, Madonna: I'm Going to Tell You a Secret) making its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 10.

The film dives into Idol’s chaotic rise, near-fatal crash, and hard-fought comeback, with never-before-seen archival footage and intimate interviews with family and collaborators. It’s a portrait not just of a rockstar, but a survivor.

UK Summer Shows: Wembley, Forever Now & More

Idol will return to the UK this summer for a short but mighty run of shows, including a headlining date at London’s OVO Wembley Arena on June 24. He’ll also appear at the Forever Now Festival in Milton Keynes two days earlier, joined by post-punk legends New Model Army. These will be Idol’s only UK dates this year.

The tour—cheekily dubbed It’s a Nice Day To…Tour Again!—kicks off in Phoenix on April 30, with dates across North America and Europe, and a blistering lineup featuring Joan Jett & the Blackhearts on select stops.
