Bailey Tomkinson & The Locals Channel California Cool with New Summer Sizzler ‘Supermoon’

Cornwall’s most sun-drenched musical export, Bailey Tomkinson & The Locals, are back – and this time, they’ve got their eyes on the moon. Or more specifically, ‘Supermoon’, their shimmering new single that throws confessional lyrics and retro gloss into the blender and serves up a cocktail straight from the Laurel Canyon school of heartbreak and harmony.
Dubbed “the UK’s answer to Daisy Jones & The Six” by Daily Star – and honestly, they’re not wrong – the band have steadily carved out a sound that wears its influences like vintage denim: think Fleetwood Mac riffs, Springsteen sincerity, and the easy West Coast charm of Haim and Sheryl Crow. With a splash of Cornish salt, of course.
‘Supermoon’ is the sonic equivalent of catching your own reflection mid-thought. It’s about the fleeting moment when you catch yourself noticing someone else, even when you're happily coupled-up. It’s raw, real and painfully human – all wrapped in dreamy ‘80s guitar lines and a saxophone that could’ve walked straight out of a Don Henley video.
“‘Supermoon’ puts words to the things we all feel but rarely say,” says Bailey. “That quiet, guilty moment of noticing someone else, even when you’re happy in your relationship.” Brave words, but honesty has always been Tomkinson’s superpower.
The chemistry here isn’t just musical. Bailey and lead guitarist Jordan Lee Collins are engaged – and yes, they know the Fleetwood Mac comparisons are inevitable. The Locals – rounded out by Tadhg Cullen (bass), Callum Masters (drums) and Daniel Woodfield (sax) – lock in with a tightness that feels more family than backing band. Think The Eagles if they’d grown up surfing the Cornish coast.
Already touted as one of BBC Introducing’s Ones to Watch for 2025, the band have been building momentum like a tide coming in: festival slots at Black Deer, Boardmasters, The Great Escape; opening shows for Keane and Sheryl Crow; and a recent headline gig at London’s Fiddler’s Elbow that left the crowd glowing.
There’s more to come: a string of stripped-back solo shows from Bailey across Cornwall, plus appearances at September Festival (Sept 21) and Kernowfornia Festival (Sept 27). A full UK headline tour and EP drop are on the horizon.
With ‘Supermoon’, Bailey Tomkinson & The Locals continue to evolve their folk-rock storytelling into something bigger, bolder and beautifully unfiltered. If you’re not already on board, now’s the time to catch the wave.
