Rising singer-songwriter Ellis J Barraclough returns with his new single Sunscreen, the follow-up to Patience and Blasphemy. At just 19, the Yorkshire-born artist is quickly building momentum, with growing support from BBC Introducing, BBC Radio London, FAULT Magazine, Daily Star, and Americana UK. He’s also earned the backing of Ocean Colour Scene and comedian Lucy Beaumont.

Written by Ellis and produced by his regular collaborator Vincent Garcia (Drizabone, Shanice), Sunscreen blends breezy, summery melodies with a standout guitar solo. Its easygoing warmth and nostalgic feel reflect Ellis’s signature style — a mix of classic influences and fresh perspective.

“When the sun is shining down all is right with the world,” says Ellis of the track, which has also inspired the name of his newly formed five-piece band, Sunscreen. He continues to perform solo as well.

Influenced by the likes of The Beatles, George Harrison, José González, Kings of Leon, and Ocean Colour Scene, Ellis prioritises an authentic sound, recording to tape and using live instrumentation to create a timeless feel.

‘Sunscreen’ arrives ahead of a busy summer of live shows, including a support slot for Ocean Colour Scene at York Barbican on July 26, followed by a set at the Off The Tracks Festival in Castle Donington on August 30.
