Good Charlotte Drop Trippy, Uplifting Video for New Single 'Stepper' Watch the Madden Brothers Get Weird at a Motel

Good Charlotte are fully back in their bag. Today, the genre-defying, chart-smashing rock icons dropped the official music video for their newest single Stepper — and it’s as wonderfully strange as it is empowering. Directed by Erik Rojas, the video sees Benji and Joel Madden cast as motel maintenance men (yes, really), watching from behind-the-scenes as an array of eccentric guests groove through their mundane routines, slowly transforming into the best versions of themselves. If Wes Anderson directed Euphoria in a roadside inn, it might look something like this. Watch it below.

The single, released last Friday, was produced by studio heavyweights Zakk Cervini and Jordan Fish (of Bring Me The Horizon), with lyrics and melody penned by the Madden brothers themselves. Stream Stepper HERE. Sonically, it’s big, bright, and gutsy — the sound of a band rediscovering its spark and daring you not to feel something.

“Stepper is about showing up for life,” the brothers shared. “Getting up every day and trying your best — not just for your dreams but for the dreams you share with the people you love.”

It’s the follow-up to last month’s Rejects, an unapologetic, snarling anthem that launched the band’s latest era with a middle finger and a purpose. It immediately caught fire at alt radio — going #1 Most Added even before its official impact — and the music video? Straight chaos. Watch Rejects HERE.

Both tracks will appear on Good Charlotte’s eighth studio album, Motel Du Cap, out 8th August via Atlantic Records. Pre-order HERE. According to the band, this record is a return to their emotional roots — raw, stripped-back, and fueled by real life. It's also their most collaborative reunion in years, bringing back longtime bandmates Paul Thomas (bass) and Billy Martin (guitar/keys) for what the Maddens are calling "Act 2."

The spark for the album? A very Good Charlotte moment — the band played a private show at the legendary Hotel du Cap in France for a friend's wedding. “It was this wild, once-in-a-lifetime vibe,” Joel said. “No pressure, just pure connection. It reminded us why we started.”

Exclusive Shows, Intimate Vibes, and a Hometown Celebration

Last week, GC played a super intimate, under-the-radar gig in LA, giving fans a first taste of unreleased Motel Du Cap tracks — alongside Stepper and Rejects. But the real love letter is coming soon: on 3rd August, the band returns to their hometown of Waldorf, Maryland for a special album kick-off party at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs stadium.

For $15, fans get a first listen to the full album before it drops, plus a chance to hang out with the Maddens and players from the team. You can even pre-order limited edition jerseys at SoMdbluecrabs.com. It’s a full-circle celebration for a band that came up from small-town dreams to worldwide stages.

Live, Loud, and Relentless

In case anyone thought they were easing back in — don’t. GC made their TV return with a searing live debut of Rejects on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Watch it HERE. Next up? York State Fair (July 23), Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series (August 8), and LIV Golf Chicago (August 9). They also tore it up at Welcome to Rockville earlier this summer — their first live show in nearly two years.

About Good Charlotte

Good Charlotte have always been for the outsiders — the ones just trying to feel seen. With nearly 30 years in the game, the Madden brothers and their longtime bandmates have sold over 11 million albums, racked up 2.3 billion streams, and defined the sound of emo-pop rebellion in the early 2000s. With hits like The Anthem and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, they carved out a space for misfits with heart — and they’ve never looked back.
