Rianne Downey Unveils Beautiful New Single ‘Angel’ Before Autumn Tour

Rising country-folk sensation Rianne Downey is back with her latest single, “Angel,” ahead of the release of her debut album, The Consequence of Love, which drops October 17th via Run On. Following the excitement around her earlier announcements this year, “Angel” offers a glimpse into Downey’s raw, timeless sound, cementing her as one of the most compelling new voices in modern country music.
A soaring, fingerpicked country anthem, “Angel” showcases Rianne’s unmistakable vocals in a stripped-back, emotive performance. “’Angel’ is one of those songs where I sat back and thought, ‘Did I just write that?’” Downey reflects. “It’s probably the track I’m proudest of. I wanted it to feel timeless, like it could’ve been written today or in the 1950s.”
The song’s lyrical heart is deeply personal. Downey explains, “I think women are taught from a young age that we have to perform or serve to be worthy, and we’re constantly made to feel like we’re not enough. This song captures the moment I realised you shouldn’t have to perform for anyone. You don’t need to be ‘enough’ for the right person. Just being is enough. At its core, it’s a song about seeing the light after a long time in the dark. Someone came into my life at the right time, and it genuinely felt like an angel had been sent to me.”
Fans have been quick to praise Rianne Downey’s latest single, with YouTube comments flooded with admiration for both the song and the artist. One fan wrote, “Beautiful song. Absolutely love Rianne. What an amazing singer/songwriter she is,” reflecting the widespread sentiment that “Angel” is a standout track. Listeners are clearly connecting with the song’s raw emotion and timeless country-folk sound, cementing Downey’s reputation as a talented and deeply resonant voice in modern country music.
Produced by Grammy-winner Ryan Hadlock, known for his work with Zach Bryan and Brandi Carlile, and recorded at Seattle’s Bear Creek Studio, The Consequence of Love features ten tracks entirely penned by Downey, some in collaboration with long-time partner Nathaniel Laurence. The album effortlessly blends country and folk elements, highlighting Downey’s lyrical depth and striking vocal presence.
Fresh off a standout performance at this year’s TRNSMT Festival, Rianne Downey will embark on a 12-date UK and Ireland tour throughout autumn and winter 2025. The run kicks off with a sold-out show at Hull’s Central Library on October 12th, includes a London date at OMEARA on October 29th, and wraps with a hometown performance at Glasgow’s Old Fruitmarket on December 6th. Fans can also catch a series of acoustic shows and album signings across the tour.
With The Consequence of Love and “Angel,” Rianne Downey is proving herself as a fearless storyteller and a major new force in country-folk music—one whose songs are as timeless as they are sincere.
