5 Seconds of Summer Drop Surprise Single “Telephone Busy” Ahead of Massive ‘EVERYONE’S A STAR!’ World Tour

Australian alt-rock and future punk-pop trailblazers 5 Seconds of Summer have kicked off the next chapter of their career with a surprise release. Fans were treated to “Telephone Busy,” a pulsating new single from the band’s upcoming sixth studio album EVERYONE’S A STAR!, due November 14. The track opens with a chaotic, layered soundscape before dropping into a hypnotic dancefloor groove, showcasing the group’s signature ability to blend experimental production with catchy pop sensibilities.
On YouTube, fans were quick to react, with one writing: “wait what-? i’m gonna cry!!! new song without announcement!! i just love you guys <3.”
The release coincides with the announcement of the band’s highly anticipated EVERYONE’S A STAR! world tour. Starting in March 2026, the tour will kick off in Europe and the UK, before hitting major U.S. cities including New York’s Madison Square Garden and Los Angeles’ Kia Forum. The journey concludes in the band’s native Australia next fall. General tickets go on sale Friday, October 31 at 10 a.m. local time, with VIP packages available for fans seeking an elevated concert experience.
The single follows their playful tribute to fans, “Boyband,” and the lead single “NOT OK,” whose video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis, known for her work with Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus. Earlier this month, the band surprised Los Angeles with a pop-up performance on Sunset Boulevard, debuting several tracks from EVERYONE’S A STAR! alongside fan favorites like Youngblood and Teeth.
5 Seconds of Summer, formed in Sydney in 2011, have grown from high school friends to global superstars. Across fourteen years, the band has sold over 18 million albums, moved more than six million tickets, and generated over 10 billion streams. With three Billboard 200 #1 debuts and multiple awards including ARIA, MTV EMA, and MTV VMA wins, the band continues to redefine what it means to be a modern rock-pop act.
EVERYONE’S A STAR! promises to be their boldest era yet, led by the explosive singles “NOT OK,” “Boyband,” and now “Telephone Busy.” Fans can preorder the album and prepare for a world tour that is set to be a celebration of music, energy, and star power.
