Jordan Ward has returned with his latest single, “CHAMPION SOUND,” released on January 9, 2026. The track previews his highly anticipated second studio album, BACKWARD, due January 30, 2026. One YouTube user summed up the vibe perfectly: “This is the music I would blast while riding downtown while the sun starts to set for the weekend.”

“CHAMPION SOUND” is a contemporary Alternative R&B track that blends Ward’s signature melodic vocals with rhythmic delivery. Produced by long-time collaborator Lido and Zach Ezzy, the song layers warm, atmospheric instrumentation over a soulful groove. Lyrically, it reflects on personal legacy and family pride, contrasting professional accolades with the support of loved ones at home. 

The single follows lead releases “JUICY” and “SMOKIN POTNA” featuring SAILORR from BACKWARD. Ward continues to showcase his smooth vocal runs and harmonizations, a hallmark of his style since his 2023 debut album FORWARD. That project established him as one of the most exciting breakthrough acts of the year, with highlights including the Joony collaboration “IDC,” the Complex-approved “CHERIMOYA,” and the funk-laced “FAMJAM4000,” named one of Rolling Stone’s “Songs You Need to Know.”

In support of BACKWARD, Ward will headline his 2026 “The Apartment Tour” starting February 18 in Vancouver, BC. The North American leg travels through major cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Toronto, with support from Asha Imuno, Nate Curry, Nali, and Planet Giza on select dates. The tour will continue through the UK and Europe in April, hitting cities such as Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Brighton, and London. Tickets are on sale now.
