Madison Beer’s “Bad Enough” Is Soft, Dreamy, and Surprisingly Epic

Madison Beer has released a new album titled Locket. This piece zeroes in on one of its standout tracks, “Bad Enough,” though I definitely recommend giving the entire album a listen—you’re almost guaranteed to find something that catches your attention.

“Bad Enough” is bubbly and dreamy, and it honestly feels like something Ariana Grande could have released. I have no idea what their relationship is, and I’m not particularly interested either. If one artist reminds me of another, I’ll say it and let someone else worry about who influenced whom. Regardless, this track is genuinely pretty cool.

The song leans heavily into dull, lo-fi-style textures, paired with a steady, relaxed groove. As it progresses, it builds toward an absolutely epic climax featuring choir elements that feel massive and cinematic. I especially love the arpeggio—likely a harp or a keyboard patch—which carries the song’s angelic undertones from start to finish. The buildup near the end is incredibly engaging and leaves you wanting more. Even though things get a little chaotic in the final moments, with sounds that almost resemble movie-trailer effects, the track cuts off at just the right time, stopping short of becoming overwhelming.

Thematically, the song draws from a Beauty and the Beast–style narrative, clearly reflecting Madison’s past relationships and the difficulties that came with them. I think a lot of listeners will connect with this track and maybe even find some comfort in it. If I had to name a song with a similar energy, “SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK” by Joji comes to mind immediately. Listen to both and the parallel becomes pretty obvious. Go give “Bad Enough” by Madison Beer a shot.
