The last song I heard from Bea was "Ripples", which invokes a completely different, albeit similarly impactful, feeling. It is really cool to hear how much range she has as an artist without ever losing her identity.

The sounds featured in this track come together to paint a picture that feels raw, harsh, airy, and heavy. I mean all of those adjectives in the most flattering way possible. I especially love the drumbeat, which keeps going in this sort of factory-like manner. If you understand my comparison, God bless you. If not, that is okay. The fuzzy guitars and distorted textures also give the song this rough edge that I found myself coming back to.

"Switchblade" feels like a very artistically complete song. I can really feel the intention behind the track, as well as the determination that went into making it. Nothing feels out of place, and every element contributes to the overall atmosphere. Bea's unique influence is all over this song, and it is wonderful. If the rest of Pylon sounds anything like this, I am very excited to hear it.

With "Switchblade," beabadoobee proves that evolution does not mean leaving yourself behind. She takes familiar emotions and places them in a completely new sonic world, creating something that feels both unexpected and completely authentic.
