The Sweet Bite of Bellah Mae’s “Sting”

Bellah Mae has released a fiery new track titled “Sting”, featured as part of a two-piece single alongside “Bad Day To Be My Ex.” Listening to “Sting” reminds me that music, at its core, is about having fun — and Bellah Mae sounds like she already knows that. She knows how to write a catchy top line, and she knows you’re going to like it. Honestly, she doesn’t need this review — but I’m writing it anyway.

“Sting” is feisty and packed with energy. I love it. It’s one of those songs that feels right just about anywhere: on a road trip, at a pre-party, or even playing over the speakers in a shopping mall. No matter the setting, I can easily imagine this track brightening people’s day.

The production, handled by Brett Truitt, is sharp and well-balanced. The sounds are clean, the choices are smart, and the build-up feels natural. Pop music can often lean toward the monotonous — but that’s part of its charm. Most producers will only add a couple of new elements between choruses, and in this case, that structure works well. It keeps the spotlight on Bellah’s vocals, which are the real driver here. The production does exactly what it needs to: elevate the performance without getting in the way.

Bellah Mae has a real knack for melody — both in writing and delivery. Lyrically, “Sting” holds its own, but it’s the hook that seals the deal. I honestly feel like I need a 30-minute white noise meditation just to get it out of my head.

All in all, “Sting” is a strong pop release from an artist with serious potential — maybe even a future pop queen. Go give it a listen.
