Absolutely Delivers Contrast and Craft on ‘I Just Don’t Know You Yet’

The artist Absolutely has just released a new two-track single called “I Just Don’t Know You Yet,” and I have to say—I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything quite like it. It feels like pieces from different genres have been woven together to create something truly unique and beautiful in its own right. Let’s dive in.
Right off the bat, I hear hints of Taylor Swift-style pop, but there’s also a noticeable influence from pop-punk and even a bit of country flair. Whatever Absolutely is blending here, it works—and it shines.
The title track, “I Just Don’t Know You Yet,” is bold and layered. The instrumentation is bombastic, and the chorus hits with confidence and volume. Behind the main elements, there’s plenty of “ear candy”—clever little flourishes and textures that fill the space in interesting ways.
In contrast, the second track “Goodbye Glitter” feels like a complete departure. It’s soulful and stripped back, almost acapella at times, but carried by lush synths, deep electronic bass, and cinematic string arrangements. It feels grand, yet intimate—something you could imagine scoring a movie, but still want to play on repeat by itself.
I’ll admit, I haven’t listened to Absolutely before, so I can’t say how these tracks compare to her previous work. But what I can say is that this two-track single makes me want to hear a lot more. These songs show that Absolutely is a remarkably talented artist—someone who clearly isn't afraid to explore different sounds. And based on how different these two tracks are, I get the feeling her next release could sound completely different yet again.
Both songs are distinct, tasteful, and worth your time. Well done, Absolutely—I’ll be keeping an ear out for what comes next. Go give these two tracks a spin.
