Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez Dive Deep with “Ocean”

Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez have teamed up to deliver an absolute energy boost with their latest track, “Ocean.” It feels like the ocean itself came alive and decided to throw an EDM party. The drums and bass stand out especially—they’re crisp, powerful, and blend seamlessly with the rest of the production, creating an irresistible urge to dance.
Throughout the track, subtle sounds of water, waves, and beach atmospheres weave into the mix, grounding the song in its central theme. Even the sharp basslines, guitar layers, and melodic motifs echo the feeling of the ocean. If I had to imagine the perfect setting for this track, it would be running along a beach at night, with the tide as your backdrop. The hook is insanely catchy—one of those melodies that embeds itself instantly. The song is tightly structured, never dragging and never overcomplicating itself. And of course, given that Calvin Harris produced it, that level of polish is expected.
Listening to “Ocean” also reminded me of earlier Calvin Harris classics like “We Found Love” and “Summer.” Those tracks made him a household name, yet “Ocean” feels worlds apart in sound. It’s clear that Calvin has continued to evolve, refining his style while keeping his music as impactful as ever. His new material impresses, while the old remains iconic.
One of my favorite moments comes at the outro—I only wish it lasted longer or appeared midway through the song as well. There’s something about that groove that leaves you wanting more. The percussion throughout the track drives it forward, and in the more intense sections, layers of shakers and congas add depth and texture, fueling the momentum.
“Ocean” feels like it’s built for movement—whether you’re dancing, driving, or chasing waves. It’s the kind of track that could easily become your next road trip anthem. Definitely worth a listen.
